Congratulations to the Institute for Real Estate Management (IREM®) Central Virginia Chapter, whose annual State of the Economy presentation drew over 400 registrants on August 20. The event was held virtually this year and featured panelists Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) of Virginia, Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade Brian Ball, Virginia REALTORS® Chief Economist Lisa Sturtevant, Richmond Federal Reserve Bank Senior Economist Ray Owens and IREM® Secretary/Treasurer Barry Blanton. Greg Gilligan, business editor of the Richmond Times-Dispatch, moderated.
The event, themed “State of the Economy vs. State of the Union,” offered an in-depth look at the local, state and national economies and how COVID-19 and legislation on all levels might affect the economy, economic development, and the health and well-being of the state and nation.
